Dr. Atallah invented the minimally invasive technique of making a stoma without any incisions! The trick is to used the stoma site as the point of entry with a special port that allows multiple surgical instruments and small cameras admission into the abdominal cavity. The patient then wakes up with a stoma, but no other skin incisions. His original work has now been published in the scientific journal Techinques in Coloproctology.
