This makes you appreciate coming to work everyday and it’s a reminder that being able to take care of patients is a privilege and an honor.  Here’s to all the wonderful patients!

Dr. Sam Atallah - Travels the World to Train and Teach Surgeons

Orlando's very own Dr. Sam Atallah, MD (colorectal surgeon) has been busy traveling the globe as an invited lecturer on new, minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of rectal cancer – many of which he invented, including TAMIS an d robotic transanal surgery.  In the past year  he has been an invited speaker for the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (Paris, France), The Natural Orifice Surgery Consorium for Assessment and Research (Chicago, IL), The Society of Robotic Surgeons (Lake Beuana Vista, FL), The American College of Surgeons (Washington, D.C.). He has also served as a panelist for the National Advisory Board for Colon Cancer Screeing on the implementation of sDNA as a screening modality, and has recently served as lead faculty to train surgical subspecialists on new techniques for rectal cancer surgery at the Center For The Future of Surgery, UCSD (La Jolla, CA) [photograph].  Dr. Atallah has also published 16 research papers in peer-reviewed journals over the last one year alone, and has been the lead author of more publications in the past year than any other doctor at Florida Hospital. He has recently received IRB approval for a rectal and colon cancer research study in collaboration with Sanford & Burnham Labs which is designed to better understand tumor biology.
